Competition
prompts postponement of festival show
The International
Arts Festival in Wellington has postponed
one of its biggest shows because of competition
from other events.
The
Blue Planet Live! was to have been performed
on March 5 and 6 at Westpac Stadium.
It
will now be staged in 2005 – the first
time the festival has presented a show
outside its biannual schedule.
Tickets
for the March show, which combines film
footage from the award-winning BBC television
series Blue Planet with music by NGC Wellington
Sinfonia, choirs and singers, cost up
to $67 for adults.

Fran Wilde said that since it announced
The Blue Planet Live! in October, more
than 20 non-festival shows had been announced
for Wellington that were vying for the
same audience.
Events
in February included circus act Cirque
Dreams, singers Bryn Terfel and Hayley
Westenra, rock acts David Bowie, The Pretenders
and A Perfect Circle and comedian Billy
Connolly.
Westpac
Stadium Trust and Wellington City Council
had agreed to delay the show till "a time
when the Wellington calendar is not quite
so full", Ms Wilde said.
